Upcoming Events: Five on Friday

It’s quite possible that this blog will go a little radio silent in the next few weeks. With next week comes the end of tax season (halle-freaking-lujah!!!), and the last two weeks of this month are just JAM-packed. So as a nice Five on Friday twist, I thought I would share a few of these events!

five on friday

{one} Blog Beautiful Boston: I signed up for an all-day workshop on how to better use photography for blogging, and I am so excited. I joined the Boston Bloggers network, and have started to make some great connections. I’m looking forward to meeting some of these lovely ladies in person, and learning a few tips!

{two} Pre-Cana Marriage Prep classes at our church: This class covers two weekends (Friday nights and Sunday afternoons) and is a big time commitment, but we loved our class so much, we didn’t hesitate when we were asked to participate. We have parts on a discussion panel on “the decision to love, and a 7 minute talk about family, what it looks like, is and means to us.

{three} Eric Church: For Valentine’s Day, we bought tickets to see Eric the next time he was in town. We have never missed one of his shows – he is our absolute favorite and our wedding song was to his song “Like Jesus Does”. My mom is even keeping the baby overnight (only her second sleepover ever!) since it’s on a weeknight and the concert will likely end late. Not gonna lie, looking forward to a mini date night!

{four} September 2012 Brides Aquarium Day: Let me explain :) Before I got married I joined theknot.com and found my “month board”. Eventually we branched off to a Facebook group and for the past four years, we have been involved in each other’s lives on a near daily basis. Since everyone is spread across the US and Canada, we don’t have much of a chance to meet in real life! But every now and then we’ll plan more regional meetups, and there are several girls who live near me that I’ve become great friends with. We are planning a meetup in the next few weeks and bringing our kids to the aquarium for the day, and then going to dinner. I can’t wait to see Gracie’s reaction to the fish and penguins!

{five} Chicago the Musical: A few Fridays back, I posted about my friend Meghan, who is an amazing singer. She is playing a lead role in Chicago at a local theater, and a few friends are getting together for dinner and then the show. I know she is going to rock it, and I can’t wait!

Above and beyond all of this, a month from today is Gracie’s first birthday! We have special plans for her actual birthday, and then her birthday party and a cake smash photo shoot! So if I’m a bit scarce around these parts for the next few weeks, I hope you won’t forget me! I’m always on Instagram, so follow me there for updates! @gentelly

Anyone have a crazy busy spring planned? What’s going on in your world?

Five on Friday

Yay for Friday! What a l-o-n-g week, anyone else?? And, I can hardly believe this weekend is Easter!!

{one} If you follow me on Instagram (@gentelly if you don’t!) I posted this photo last night:

Summer sent me the cutest card too! I’ve read a few pages, and she is hilarious!

I was contacted through the Boston Bloggers network by Summer Land, and she asked to send me her newest book to read and review this book for y’all! I haven’t read a non-baby/non-parenting book in a very long time, so I’m super excited to read this!

{two} I somehow got roped into hosting Easter again this year, and of course I would decide that now is the time to start painting my kitchen cabinets. Oh well, it just adds some character, right?

Please ignore all the crap on top of the cabinets. I had to empty them before I could start painting!

I have hated our kitchen since I moved in – and I know that makes me sound like a spoiled brat. I love white kitchens and since we are staying in this house for the time being, so I decided that it was time for me to make it something I could love!

{three}  On another Easter-related note, I’m totally cheating. I ordered a ham from Honey Baked Hams. I do not have the time or the patience, so I decided to just pay someone else to do it for me.

{four} I think that spring has FINALLY arrived, and the last of the snow has almost melted. We’ve gone on walks every night this week, and I think we are all loving the fresh air and sunshine.

Especially Gracie, who squeals and laughs hysterically while we “chase” Gunner down the street. Crazy to think that a year ago, I was waddling through our neighborhood trying to walk her OUT.

{five} Tomorrow is this guy’s birthday!! He is the best husband and father that we could have ever asked for. It’s been quite the ride.

Happy Birthday Babe! We love you more than words can say!

Have a great weekend friends, and Happy Easter!!

Yay Friday!

This week has been a long one. The time change has totally thrown us and our schedules have been feeling way off. But here’s to Friday and a fun weekend ahead!

1. Even though we are settled in our house (for now), every now and then I like to look at houses on www.trulia.com and daydream. Last night I found this beauty … and at $899,900 it is most definitely a dream!

Isn’t she pretty?

2. I am in desperate need of something (art, photos, anything) to hang on one empty wall in our new living room. Where do you get artwork? I would love something one-of-a-kind, but without the price tag :) Would love to hear your suggestions!

3. Yesterday Keith’s promotion to Senior Product Manager was announced to his team! We had known for about a month that it was in the works, but it being made official was the best news! Keith works his butt off and kicks ass every day. He’s such a hard worker, and is so driven and dedicated. I’m immensely proud of him :) I can’t wait to go to dinner tonight to celebrate!

4. I’m debating on what to get Gracie for her first birthday! I was thinking a Pottery Barn Anywhere Chair or maybe something for the yard for summer – a playset or water table? Mamas with babies – any ideas??

5. The snow is finally starting to melt, the days are getting longer and I wore flats and NO coat for the first time in 2015! Even Gracie is loving the new weather – she spends all her time in front of our door :)
