Five on Friday: Our Week

This week just totally flew by me – I feel like it was just Monday, wasn’t it?? We are heading to NH next week, so I was busy prepping all week. Cause you know how traveling with a toddler goes …..image

So anyway, here’s what we’ve been up to this week!

image

We wore this adorable romper from Aila&Frankie and played outside with bubbles. Which of course resulted in “me do it!!!” and when I turned my back for a split second, she proceeded to dump the entire bottle onto the ground. And then get mad at ME because she had no bubbles left. Two year olds. πŸ˜‰

My little fashionista (see all those headbands around her waist – I’m still ROFL, she was so proud of herself!) helping me make banana bread. She loved helping and kept yelling, “mama, I COOKIN’!!!” Then, of course, it took too long to bake andΒ she refused to eat it. sigh. Again, two year olds.

This photo was alllll over social media on Wednesday, so I’m sure by now you’ve seen this photo. But man oh man, what a powerful photo!!! It can be so easy to compare your journey to those around you, but it’s important to remember that what’s happening in YOUR lane is what you need to focus on! Your success in life, love, business comes from doing YOU.

This is Gracie with her little best friend from school – how adorable are they?? Her mom and I met at a nail salon almost 2 years ago and became friends, and she later recommended us to the daycare the girls go to now. They only see each other once a week, but they make the most of their time together!

I’ve been drinking this all week for breakfast – y’all it is so yummy and filling and healthy for you! Tastes like a Starbucks frappe but without all the sugar and crap πŸ˜‰

image

Recipe: 1 cup almond milk (I use chocolate), 1/2 cup cold brew coffee, 5/6 ice cubes, 1 packet vanilla P96, 1 tbsp PB2 Blend until creamy and enjoy!

Today is going to be another scorching hot day, so we are off to the beach! Have a great weekend friends!

Unique Gift Ideas with JORD

Y’all know how much I love accessories, whether it be watches, jewelry, purses, ect. I especially love accessories as gift ideas!

I always wear a watch, and have been wearing the same watch for 4 years so a few weeks ago, when JORD first reached out to me, I was excited to try something new. And to be honest – wood watches? SO cool! It was unlike anything that I had seen before, and not something I would normally pick out for myself.

I chose this watch because I love that it is something that I can wear with absolutely anything! I had it sized to fit my wrist, but it’s still a tad big, so it fits more like a bangle. I have been wearing it with adjustable bracelets, which keeps it from sliding around too much.

With my wedding anniversary coming up in a couple of weeks, I can’t help but think a cool watch would make an awesome gift for my hubby! (If you are coming up on year five, wood is the traditional gift material for a fifth year anniversary gift!) He has a huge watch obsession and has been eyeing mine for the last couple of weeks! If you are shopping for someone who “has it all” and can be hard to shop for – check out JORD! This is definitely a twist on the traditional wrist watch, and I guarantee you that they don’t have a wood watch yet πŸ˜‰

You guys know that I would never promote a product that I don’t believe in, which is why I am super excited to have been able to share this with you! Check them out, and tell them I sent you πŸ˜‰

JORD sent me this watch to wear and review, all opinions are my own!

Thoughts for Thursday: 7 Day Detox Recap

Last week I shared that my husband and I were doing a 7 day detox. After 2 months of traveling, parties, holidays, we needed a desperate reset!

I was super nervous. Last summer, I did the 21 day fix, and it was really hard for me. I was hungry all the time, cranky all the time, and my cravings for the things I couldn’t have were out of control. To be honest, any time that I had tried a diet detox, I failed. I just lacked the will power. I assumed that was normal – that I wanted what I wanted because it tasted good! I lost 10 pounds on the 21df but quickly gained it all back once I could start eating whatever I wanted again. It really did nothing for me in terms of helping me change my eating habits. So to say I was apprehensive about trying this, is a huge understatement, but I also figured it was only 7 days ?

I started our mornings with a detox tea, and we drank 90 ounces of water throughout the day (not a stretch for me since I’m used to it now!)

image

I found a clean eating guide with suggested meals, but my plan basically was no carbs – no dairy – no sugar but lots of protein, fruits and vegetables. I should have had eggs for breakfast, but I truly cannot stand eggs – unless they have lots of cheese on it, and is in between two pieces of bread πŸ˜‰ So this is what a typical day looked like for us:

7am – Detox tea

8am – P96 protein shake with almond milk, banana and peanut butter (I cannot say enough good things about P96! It’s the best protein shake I’ve ever tried, it’s not chalky or weird tasting. And it’s about half the price of other “popular” shakes!)

10am – Apple or grapefruit; I love grapefruit with a drizzle of honey and cinnamon.

image

11:30- Plexus Slim, aka my pink drink (this helps regulate your blood sugar but also helps control carb/sugar cravings!)

Noon – Grilled chicken over a spinach salad with cucumbers, tomato, cucumber and an olive oil/balsamic dressing; side of fruit.

image

3pm – Carrots and celery with hummus, or an apple with peanut butter

6pm – Grilled chicken, side of steamed veggies or salad, quinoa or brown rice (I tend to mix mine all together!)

image

8pm – If I felt like I needed a snack, I had watermelon or pineapple

I’ll be honest – the first day was really rough. And I thought I wasn’t going to be able to keep going, but day 2 was much better and by day 3, I didn’t even miss the items I had cut out! I didn’t even miss wine – and you have got to know what a big deal that is for me, haha!

At the end of the week, Keith had lost 8 pounds and I lost 4! We loved how good we felt so much that we have decided to continue. We’ve added back in some carbs, but I am still eating no dairy or sugar. It’s been much easier than I thought.

I had no idea that getting our gut in check could help with sugar cravings, but in the last 10 months since I’ve been on a good quality probiotic, I’ve noticed a shift in the things that I crave, and I honestly think that’s why this detox was so easy for me, and why I want to continue!

I posted this picture on my Facebook page last night (follow me at Facebook.com/gentels)

This is what my kitchen counter looks like and the items that I reach for when I’m hungry. (ok, not the succulent, but he’s too cute not to keep in the photo!)

Have you done a detox before? How did it go? If you’re interested in any of the products I talked about (P96, the pink drink or the probiotic) leave me a message and I’ll send you some info!
