Friday Favorites!

Cheers to making it through another week! Hard to believe it’s almost August! We are really enjoying our summer, and hope you are too 🙂

Favorite Recipe: I mentioned on Monday that we started a 7 day detox, and it’s been challenging but also really awesome! We both feel amazing and have lost a few pounds as well! I was out running errands on Tuesday and decided to try to eat out – I went to Chik-fil-A, which is my favorite place by the way, and I got grilled chicken and their Superfood salad. Y’all, I was in heaven – that salad was SOOO good. I found a copycat recipe on Pinterest and recreated it yesterday. I can’t get enough!! Then, while at Trader Joe’s tonight, I found a pre-mix salad that I think is a pretty close dupe as well and it was only $2.99!! Love me some TJ’s.

Favorite Accessory: A few weeks ago I received this JORD watch and I have been wearing it pretty much non-stop. Full review of this piece coming on Monday!

Favorite Beauty Product: I bought this shampoo/conditioner/dry shampoo set from the #Nsale (of course). I have been super intrigued by this set and I have to say, I really love it! I have struggled to find a dry shampoo that actually works, and this stuff delivers! And it smells yummy too 🙂

*set is currently sold out but they are available for sale individually*

Favorite Project: Our chalkboard wall! I have been wanting to do this for months (seriously, I bought the paint back in December!) and I finally decided this week to just get it done. It took three coats, and I can’t wait to season it and get some stuff on it! I also think that Gracie is going to love it once she figures it out 🙂

I hope y’all have an awesome weekend!

oh hey, Monday!

Anyone else feel like during the summer all the days just seem to flow together? This is the first summer since my teens that I have been home, ankd y’all – it is SO nice. Like pinch me, I am loving life this summer!!

The past few days have been a blur of day dates, hanging at the pond, doing some serious meal prep, and some quality time with my girl!!

Keith had Thursday off, which was totally random, but since Grace goes to school on Tuesday and Thursday, after his morning appointment we had the rest of the day together!

Friday was H – O – T …. I know I shouldn’t complain, but we are not used to heat like this!! I for some reason completely underestimated how hot it was going to be and decided that 11am was a perfect time to go for a hayride and then blueberry picking! We had a blast, but I think next time I should wait until it’s a little cooler out 😉

Saturday we had a family party and Gracie spent the entire time in the kiddie pool and running through the sprinkler. She is such a water baby!!!

Today we started a 7 day detox — the past few months have been crazy with traveling, and our eating habits have very slowly spiraled out of control! It’s time to take charge again and get back on track with eating right!!

Tell me about your weekend! Can you believe that summer is half over already?! Linking up with Biana and Meghan 🙂

***I have to start by first saying that my thoughts and prayers are with the Baton Rouge Police Dept, and all the family affected by yesterday’s tragedy. A huge part of my Plexus family lives in Louisiana, specifically in Baton Rouge, and my heart truly breaks for what they are going through. One of the officers critically injured was a family member of a teammate. This tragedy was senseless and cowardly. I am praying for peace amidst tragedy. #AllLivesMatter

This weekend revolved around potty training! Oh the joys! Gracie has been very interested in the potty for the past several months, but we never pushed the issue. We let her sit on it whenever she wanted, and she talked about it a lot. She especially loved to keep us company while we were in the bathroom LOL. We had a lot of traveling going on in May/June and I didn’t want to attempt to potty train her until I knew I had the time to devote to it.

I did a good amount of “research” – you know, I asked my mom-friends, I scoured Pinterest – the usual. I thought we had a good game plan ready to go!

Friday was day one – we got up, I showed her the “potty chart” I made for her, and took off her diaper and put her in her new Minnie undies. We waited. And waited. She drank, she ate. We played play-doh, we did flash cards, we drew, we watched Mickey Mouse. We waited and waited some more. We went to the bathroom every 20-30 min. She was a good sport about it, but by almost lunchtime we had more accidents than successes. We were both tired and frustrated.

I put her down for her nap, and decided it was time to throw the plan out. Because in some things parenting-related, you just have to let go, stop trying to control everything and follow their lead.

She woke up dry and immediately had a successful potty trip! The rest of the afternoon was followed by one success after the other – yay! She loved getting her treat and putting a sticker on the chart.

Saturday was even better – a total of 2 accidents all day, we made a trip out to lunch and Babies’r’Us where we bought her a little potty seat – something I said I wouldn’t do. But she took it like nothing I’ve ever seen. At that point, we had really turned a corner.

It’s the end of day three, and I would say at this point she is 75% potty trained! I plan on keeping her out of a diaper when we are home, using them only for naps and bedtime. If we go out, I’ll put her in a Pull-Up, and we’ll just keep trudging along!

Supplies we kept on hand were puppy-training-pee-pads (for her to sit on the couch or floor on; Clorox wipes; and M&M’s. We didn’t really need much else!!

I also went back to Nordstrom this weekend (I swear for the last time!) and thanks to a defective pair of boots and a generous return policy, I was able to get the riding boots that have been on my dream wish list for years. And they were practically free 😉

We also went to Berry Pond, our favorite place to spend a few hours. By Sunday morning, we were all going a little stir crazy. It’s a great little beach, quiet and peaceful and it’s never busy. We love it!

We ended the weekend watching the new HBO series “The Night Of” – y’all it is soooo good! It’s only the second episode, and we are hooked. I’m glad we found this to fill the GoT void on Sunday nights 😉

I hope you had a great weekend! Linking up with Biana today! Have a great week everyone 🙂
