Why I chose Network Marketing

I mentioned the other day that I quit my full-time job to stay home with Gracie. I was fortunate enough to have found a company that allows me to work very part time and still contribute to our income.

I know that a lot of people have a misunderstanding of network marketing. I’ve pretty much heard it all over the past 9 months. It’s a pyramid scheme, it’s a scam, it’s a waste of money, the products are junk and my personal favorite – “no one makes money with THOSE kinds of companies”.

If you are one of those people, please keep reading!

I’m a typical 30-something mama. I’m just like you. I love wine, traveling, spending time with my family. I love fashion, good food, and nights out with friends. I went to college (I actually put myself through college when I was 25, going nights and weekends while working a full time job). I believe in higher education, and in pursuing your dreams.

But I also think that our world is changing. The way people make money is changing. Look at bloggers and Insta-bloggers for example. There are many, many bloggers that are making full time money through paid sponsorships and advertising. There are many others who are making “hobby” money and getting free product for themselves and their families. Companies are starting to understand the power of social media and the influence bloggers and celebrities have over the masses. How many items have you purchased because you saw your favorite blogger write about it? Or searched Pinterest for the best baby gear, and then made a purchase from an article you read? Have you ever asked a mommy friend her favorite pacifier, bottle, sound machine, insert item here ____ ?

Welcome to the world of network marketing. Network marketing is sharing. And we all do it, on a daily basis!! We are always asking and looking for recommendations. You know why? Because we would rather make a purchase that a friend or family member has recommended. Because we TRUST them! Because if they say it worked for them, well – then it must be good enough for us! Right?!

I was drawn to the idea because I wanted to be home more with Gracie. That was my “why”. I had seen friends succeed with other companies, but none of those companies seemed like the right fit for me. You have to really believe in the company and products you chose, or you will have a hard time being successful!

Here is my advice for you – choose a company you can believe in and do your research – even the bad reviews! Read as much as you can. Know there is not going to be a perfect company, just the perfect choice for you. Other people will find those bad reviews and will question you on it. You need to believe so strongly in what you do that you can stand up for that.

Then, learn as much as you can. Commit to building a business. Schedule time every day to work on your business. Take advantage of training that is available for you. Get a “power partner” – whether you have someone close to you join you; or you find someone within your company to partner up. Having someone on this journey with you will make a big difference!

And lastly, don’t quit. There will be hard days. Days when you WANT to quit. But don’t – remember why you started. And remember that the only way to fail, is to quit. Anything worth doing isn’t going to be easy, but hey, the time is going to pass anyway right? So what do you have to lose?
