Five on Friday

It has been a very long week my friends! I am so glad it’s Friday!

I haven’t done a Five on Friday post in awhile, but I got behind on my blog posts this week so figured this was a good way to play catch up:)

1. It’s cold. Beyond cold. We have so much snow and ice, that roofs are start to collapse from the weight. People have started panicking about roof snow removal, and guess what – there isn’t a roof rake or bag of snow melt anywhere to be found. And last night we noticed a crack forming in our bedroom. So that’s just great. Seriously, is it spring yet?

2. I never blogged about our Valentine’s Day, because it was so sad and uneventful! Little miss came home Friday night with conjunctivitis – so Saturday we took her to the doctor and were instructed to keep her quarantined until Monday. And then Sunday we got snowed in. Keith and I did manage to sneak out Sunday night for an hour to get drinks and an app at the restaurant up the street. Again, is it spring yet?

3. Lent started this week and we decided to give up ordering takeout (for lunch and dinner!) and I also am giving up wine. Three days in, and doing good so far. 37 more to go…..

4. Unless you live under a rock, you’ve heard the song “Chandelier” – click this link to hear an acoustic version sung by one of my best friends! She is uber talented.

5. Anyone else obsessed with Thursday night TV? Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder all in one night!! Now, if only I could have a glass of wine while watching :)

Our Travel Bucket List

We are currently living in a frozen tundra, and dreaming about warm weather. This is usually the time of year that I start “planning” trips that we would love to take if we had unlimited funds and vacation times.

Keith and I both love to travel, and can’t wait to share this with Gracie.

These five places are most definitely on our travel bucket list and hope to get there at some point in our lifetime!

Ireland:

This is probably #1 on Keith’s list! He has always wanted to go to Ireland – specifically to golf :) I want to go for the culture and the scenery! This is a trip we will probably wait to do until Grace is a bit older and can really enjoy it. And I would love to visit England and Scotland in the same trip!

Emerald Bay, Bahamas:

We were supposed to go to Emerald Bay for our honeymoon! We had the trip booked and paid for – and then Keith got sick and we had to change our wedding date. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to reschedule our honeymoon and ended up going to Playa Mujeres Mexico for our honeymoon a few months later. I’ve made Keith promise me that he will take me for our 5 year anniversary :)

Cape Town, South Africa:

Ha – ok this one is probably a pipe dream, and unless we win the lottery, I don’t see this one happening but, a girl can dream right?! Beautiful scenery and beaches; golf (of course) and wine tasting. Sounds amazing!

Rosemary Beach, FL:

Rosemary Beach is on the panhandle of Florida, and a much more doable vacation for us to do in the (nearer!) future! I can see us taking a quick trip during the winter months to escape the snow and cold!

Kona, Hawaii:

I was born on the Big Island, but have never spent any time on the Kona side of the island! From what I’ve been told, it is simply stunning. We have plans to go back to Hawaii, and since it will probably be the next trip that we take, I hope we can cross this off our list!

If you could go anywhere, where would it be? What’s on your travel bucket list?

Our Love Story

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I thought that I would share the story of how Keith and I met and fell in love.

I love reading other blogger’s stories and am excited to share mine today!

IMG_0228.JPG

The groundwork: It was early June 2009 and my sister had gone to a George Strait concert the week before, and had gotten kicked out (that’s a story for another day – but thank you Frank!) and since she didn’t get to enjoy that concert, wanted to go to another one.  Brad Paisley/Dierks Bentley were playing the following week, she bought two tickets and asked if I wanted to go. I love country music, so of course said yes.

The day: June 12, 2009 – we got there and found our seats. We were drinking margaritas and enjoying the first act, when a group of people got to our row. We had to stand up to let them walk past us, and Keith was the last of the group to walk in. I know this sounds so cliche but when I saw him, the whole place just stopped. I was instantly mesmerized by his baby blue eyes!

What happened next: There was an empty seat between myself and Keith, and my sister decided to move to that seat so she could see better. Thank you, man-in-the-cowboy-hat for making it impossible to see. My sister will talk to pretty much anyone, so she naturally struck up a conversation with him. Instantly, I was jealous. (Nevermind that she was single, and I <oops> was not).  After the show ended, Keith asked us if we wanted to hang out with him and his friends some more. They were planning on grilling food and drinking beers while waiting for the parking lot to clear out, so of course we said yes. I was pretty smitten at this point, and an hour later when he handed me his phone open to a blank contact screen, I obliged and put my name and number in his phone. Smooth move, huh?

The rest is history: We had our first date on June 22, 2009 and were instantly a couple. We moved in together July 2010 and got engaged Memorial Day weekend 2011. Our wedding was September 1, 2012.

Serendipity: One of the girls that was with Keith and his friends that night, is now married to Frank (see the first paragraph) and they are expecting their first baby girl in a few months! AND – when we first met with our Deacon at church to discuss our wedding, we made the crazy discover that he was also at that concert with his wife and daughters. How cool is it that the night we first met, the man that would eventually marry us was somewhere in the crowd? He is also the same man that baptized Gracie. Fate y’all.

So there you have it – now we live in a little house in suburbia with our pup and sweet Gracie-girl. Crazy the twists and turns that life takes :)
