one life changing decision

Since I have quite a bit to catch up on, I’m just going to get right into it :)

About two week ago, I quit my job – it was kind of unexpected, although it’s definitely something that I have been working towards these past few months. To say that I feel blessed to have this opportunity is an understatement. Later this week I will get into the HOW I am able to stay home, but first I want to share my WHY.

Gracie will be two in a few months, and these past several months have gotten harder and harder on us. She finally realized that we weren’t together all day, and each night at daycare pickup she would wrap her arms around my neck and hug me so.tightly. We would get home from daycare, and all she wanted to do was sit on the couch and snuggle. Taking the dog out would have to wait, heck, taking her coat and shoes off would have to wait too! If I tried to get up too soon, she would push me back and say “mama down”, and lay her head on my chest and just snuggle. Those moments were the happiest moments of my day, but also the saddest. Heart breaking really. I was quickly realizing that the short amount of time I had with her each day, was simply not enough.

After a particularly rough few weeks at my job, I tried to go down to part-time, but sadly that didn’t seem to work either. So after a long talk with Keith, we just made the decision to jump. In a couple of years, she’ll be off to kindergarten – so if I was going to make the most of my time with her, I had to do it now!

We are trying to settle into our new routine, and find our new “normal” but I am so looking forward to our new life!!

Any other mamas make the transition to stay home? Have any tips for me? :)

  1. During my maternity leave, we decided I would stay home with baby. It wasn’t our plan… in fact we already gave a day care $$ to reserve our spot. But I’m so thankful we made that decision. This time is SO PRECIOUS.
