Happy Friday lovelies!! We made it to the end of a long {ok, long to me?} work week! The weather here has been cold and rainy and dreary all week (except yesterday, which randomly was 77) and all I wanted to do was curl up in bed and watch trashy reality TV!
Life has been so hectic lately – between getting settled in our new place, work, parenting a toddler, and trying to make a teeny bit of “me” time. But I guess that’s life for most of us isn’t it?
I’ve been trying to find ways to save myself time and make my day-to-day life a little bit less hectic, and figured I would share these with you!
{one} Grocery delivery. I felt so silly the first time I tried PeaPod. I thought it was only for old people, and the driver would think I was ridiculous. But, he told me that most of his customers are moms with young kids who don’t have time to grocery shop or don’t want to drag their small kids to the store. Ding, ding -that’s me! I found several coupon codes I was able to use, and I saved over $20 on my initial order. Delivery is $9.95 for orders less than $100 and $5.95 for order over $100. You can also choose a less busy day of week/less busy time of day to save even more off the delivery fee. So far I’ve spent $3 and $5 on delivery. PeaPod also has an app, so I can grocery shop and add items to my cart whenever I want. No more lists on the fridge! It also links to my store Stop&Shop card, and it recalls my previous orders! I’m telling you this delivery business is genius.
{two} One pot meals. After the move, we got really lazy. Like ordering-out-way-too-much lazy. And I got really sick of it. I started searching Pinterest for quick and easy meals, and voila – one pot meals. The chili mac we made tonight has been by far my favorite!!
Recipe can be found here – I adapted it by adding small red beans and hot sauce! You could also add a can or bag of corn!
{three} Prepping the night before. I know this must sound kind of dumb, but it makes such a huge difference in the morning! So every night, while I prepping/making dinner, I make Gracie’s lunch for the next day. She takes two 8 ounce containers of milk a day, plus fruit (that needs to be cut up) plus two other snacks and her lunch. Taking the ten minutes at night has been a lifesaver! I also lay out her clothes for the next morning, so that Keith can get her dressed without asking me what shoes/jacket she’s wearing
{four} I bought this new hairstyling tool last weekend, and y’all I am obsessed. It’s a round brush hair dryer!! My hair has never looked better – so much volume, silky smooth – it’s amazing. I originally wanted the heat round brush tool from Sephora, but it was $100 and out of stock. I found this one at Target, and love that it does double duty, for a third of the price!
{five} Amazon Prime/Amazon Subscribe & Save – I buy everything on Amazon. Most of our paper goods, cleaning supplies, snacks, diapers – I mean everything! And I love it. Amazon Prime was the best invention, and I love that if I’m running low on something I can order it and have it within 1-2 days. Getting out of the house with a toddler to go to the store, is just such a huge production that I avoid it if I can!
Mamas, tell me your secrets! What are your tried-and-true time saving tricks?
