When I last left off, we had just had Gracie’s second birthday and her present from us was a trip to Disney!!
Around 15 months she (along with every other toddler in America) became obsessed with Mickey Mouse. And I am talking o b s e s s e d …… So around March of this year I started thinking that maybe we should take her to Disney now – you know, capitalize on the fact that she was in love with the characters. Oh, and she still gets free admission 😉 We knew that we didn’t want to do a big, expensive trip until she was older and could really appreciate it but we thought a short trip would be really fun for her!!
We opted to stay off property, at a complex only a few miles from Disney. We purchased nonstop flights from Boston to Orlando (a must when traveling with small children!) and rented a large SUV. We also brought reinforcements, aka my sister in law! This is another must when traveling with kids, sometimes you need that third set of hands!!
We chose a gorgeous, brand new resort ( we didn’t know just how new it was until we got there though!) and we loved the place that we stayed! We went for 3 1/2 days/four nights and it was the perfect amount of time. We did one full day at Magic Kingdom, a pool day, a day at downtown Disney and our half day we went to the Contemporary Resort for lunch at Chef Mickey’s.
I did a lot of research (err Pinterest searching) on tips and tricks for doing Disney, and we did come up with a loose game plan but for the most part we just “winged” it – and we had a great time!
Wanna see some pictures?!
Before we left I was worried that she was too little and that she wasn’t going to really appreciate this trip. And while I know she won’t remember it, we will! Seeing her face light up at the rides, characters, the lights, the shows – she was SO excited. She loved every second!! We loved it so much we are thinking about going again in November 🙂
